Hospitality pours into Porto

Porto's hotel capacity is far from overload, and this is evident in the recent openings and the five new hotels, mostly five-stars, that are expected to open in the next three years.

Tourists are returning to Porto and this situation is visible in the hotel occupancy that skyrocketed especially after the Easter week. In recent weeks, we have also seen the opening of several medium and large hotel units. However, the highlight goes to the Renaissance Porto Lapa Hotel, promoted by the Canadian group Mercan Properties, which is located near the Church of Lapa and has 163 rooms and suites.

 A few days earlier, the same group had opened the Arts Hotel Porto, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, located in the center of Porto, close to Jardim de São Lázaro, which has 53 rooms.

In 2022, the municipality saw its tourist accommodation capacity reinforced with the opening of 11 more hotel establishments. Currently, it has 140 hotels, which together have 9600 rooms. Significantly, half of this stock has a four-star rating and 22% has a five-star rating.
