Portugal attracted 3.5 billion euros in foreign investment in 2023, the highest amount since 2016

There are 36 new investment decisions, worth 2.739 billion euros, which will create 6,810 jobs. Of these, 14 are industrial projects. There are another 12 investment projects from companies already established in Portugal, which will create an additional 1,500 jobs. AICEP is monitoring 50 PIN applications.

Last year, AICEP attracted 3.5 billion euros in investment, a new record, corresponding to the largest amount of investment raised by the agency since 2016. Of this amount, more than 2.7 billion euros are related to new Foreign Direct Investment (FDI): there are 36 decided FDI leads that will lead to the creation of 6,810 jobs. The industrial projects alone are 14 and will create 3,555 new jobs. The remaining 3,255 jobs are in service centers.

To the total amount, more than 719 million euros from 12 reinvestment projects by foreign companies already established in Portugal and national companies are added. They commit to creating an additional 1,526 jobs.
