Mercan Group highlighted in Forbes Magazine

Present in Portugal since 2015, the Mercan Group manages 31 projects in Portugal in the hotel and real estate sector. You just bought the Hotel California Urban Beach in the Algarve.

Founded in 1989 in Canada, by businessman Jerry Morgan, the Mercan Group was born with a focus on immigration and investment consultancy, having expanded its activity throughout the world, particularly in the real estate area, being present in 30 countries.

Present in Portugal since 2015, the group – which chose our country as its gateway to Europe – is responsible for the management and development of hotel assets in Portugal, with 31 projects from the north to the south of the country, including Madeira. It has now announced that it has just invested 13 million euros in the purchase of the Hotel California Urban Beach, on Pescador beach, in Albufeira, Algarve. The investment will be made, above all, in rehabilitation works on the building.

This acquisition reinforces its presence in the Algarve, where it is already developing the Hotel Indigo Faro Ribeirinha, the Lagos Marina Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn Lagos, the Marriott Lagos and the Hard Rock Hotel Algarve, located in Portimão, and whose opening is scheduled for 2026.

The hotel will be managed by the group company responsible for hotel investments, AHM – Ace Hospitality Management, and will create 31 jobs. Located in the center of Albufeira, around a 15-minute walk from the marina, Hotel California Urban Beach offers a spa with a heated indoor pool and water circuit, massage services and beauty treatments, in addition to an outdoor pool.
