Holiday Inn Beja: Beja City Hall promotes Boutique Libraries in Local Hotels

Beja City Hall is bringing literature closer to travelers by installing small library concept in 12 hotels and accommodations across the municipality. This Friday, the “Mini Biblioteca Pax Julia” project will deliver traditional wicker baskets containing 28 books tied to the region’s culture, history, and authors, many of which were published or supported by the municipality.

Featured works include literary guides by Mário Beirão and Mariana Alcoforado, as well as books by other celebrated local authors like Maria Isabel Covas Lima and Joaquim Mósca. Guests will also find texts on Beja’s celebrated artist, Jorge Vieira. Among the participating establishments is the Holiday Inn Beja, which will offer this unique literary experience to tourists and business travelers. The initiative aims to promote Beja’s rich heritage through books, encouraging readers to discover the region’s stories and talents.

“This is a simple initiative that leaves a lasting cultural mark on Beja,” remarked Mayor Paulo Arsénio. The mini-libraries, organized by the Biblioteca Municipal José Saramago, will be available starting at 5:30 PM on Friday. This thoughtful project enhances the connection between tourism and culture, offering guests an enriching glimpse into Beja’s identity.
