In 2024, tourism consolidated its position as a lever of the national economy, reaching all targets set for 2027. Before the year ended, Pedro Machado, Secretary of State for Tourism, revealed that Portugal would close the year with record numbers in tourism, exceeding 27 billion euros in revenue, with more than 30 million foreign tourists and 80 million overnight stays. These values ​​demonstrate that the country continues to be on the radar of travelers from all over the world.

Along with the global numbers in guests, nights and revenues, which correspond to the best ever, find out what new hotel openings are in 2025. Ace Hospitality Management, Mercan's management company, will open four new hotels in Portugal. The  Origine, Tribute Portfolio Hotel  will open in April this year in Vila Nova de Gaia. This is a 4-star unit with 70 rooms. Still in April, the  A-mar-ello Hotel Praia Santo André, Tapestry Collection by Hilton , will be opened in Santo André, with 44 rooms. In turn, in July, Porto will have an extension to the  Renaissance Porto Lapa , with 78 rooms. In July, the city of Lisbon will welcome the  Moxy – Lisbon Park Hotel , a three-star hotel with 218 rooms.
