NiT Awards 2025: these are the best and most talented chefs of the year

Some have taken Portuguese talent across borders and others have been awarded the highest awards in the world of gastronomy. Between Michelin stars, incursions abroad, bets on the gastronomic richness of the interior and busy agendas, the panorama of Portuguese cuisine came out of 2024 even richer. And much thanks to the effort of cooks and chefs who continue to try to innovate and do things differently.

That's what the five names chosen by NiT to integrate the Best Chef category at the 2025 NiT Awards did. 2024 handed Miguel Rocha Vieira a new mission: to be one of the elements of an authentic revolution in the hotel management group Ace Hospitality Management (AHM). During the last few months, the chef has created different concepts of hotel restaurants to make customers see the spaces independently and as a good option for dining in the city.

"The idea is that you go to dinner three or four times at the place and only on Wednesday do you realize that you are in a hotel. We want to break this prejudice. We want to open the spaces to the street. Telling people that it's only by chance that we're a restaurant that's in a hotel," he says. "If we now talk about ten restaurants to go to dinner today, probably none will be in a hotel. We want to be pioneers in this change in thinking. The future of this industry is there."
