André Ornelas, Cluster General Manager of Hilton & IHG at AHM – Ace Hospitality Management, has been nominated for Best Young Hotel Director.

What does it mean to be nominated for Xénios 2025?

Being nominated for Xénios 2025 is a recognition of the hard work and dedication invested in the hospitality industry. Above all, it is a motivation to continue innovating and contributing to the development of the sector.

And what does it mean to be the Best Young Hotel Director?

Being distinguished as the Best Young Hotel Director would not only be a personal milestone but also a validation of the values I uphold in hotel leadership: innovation, results-oriented focus, close relationships with teams, and a commitment to excellence in guest experience.

Why work in Hospitality?

Hospitality is a dynamic sector that constantly challenges professionals to reinvent themselves. More than just a job, it is a way of life where adaptability, creativity, and resilience are essential. It is an industry that allows you to travel without leaving the place, experience different cultures, lead diverse teams, and, most importantly, create unique moments for guests.

What has your journey in this sector been like, and how has it contributed to this nomination?

My career has taken me through various areas of hotel operations, from F&B to operations management and hotel pre-openings. Currently, I am a Cluster Director, having led the pre-opening and management of multiple international brand properties. I believe this multidisciplinary experience, continuous focus on innovation, foresight, and team development were key factors in this nomination.

What is your educational background?

I studied at the Madeira School of Tourism and Hospitality, where I began my journey in this field. Later, I attended the Estoril Higher School of Hospitality and Tourism, specializing in restaurant management, and then pursued a degree in Hotel Management.

What message would you like to leave for young people currently studying to work in the hospitality industry?

Hospitality is an industry full of opportunities, where growth depends on dedication and the willingness to learn. Having passion for what you do, constantly seeking to improve, and knowing how to lead with empathy are essential factors for success.
