L’Égoïste Bar & Restaurant reinvents Easter flavors to gather families around the table

Easter is synonymous of family and traditional Portuguese dishes that warm both the heart and the soul. To celebrate the occasion with comfort, indulgence, and a touch of sophistication, L’Égoïste Bar & Restaurant—located in Renaissance Porto Lapa Hotel —invites guests to a special Sunday lunch, thoughtfully crafted by chefs Miguel Pinto and Ricardo Tiago, perfect for the whole family.

The meal begins with fresh bread and viennoiserie, assorted cheese boards featuring Nisa cheese, 3 Igrejas cheese, and the classic goat cheese, followed by a variety of Portuguese cured meats. Additional starters include a mushroom and leek quiche, a savory garden vegetable cake, and the emblematic folar de enchidos from Lamego. Light and refreshing salads made with lettuce, cucumber, carrot, tomato, orange, apple, and other fresh ingredients are served alongside.

The experience continues with a flavorful roasted pumpkin cream soup, setting the stage for a leisurely meal. As conversations unfold around the table, the main courses are served: Polvo à lagareiro (octopus baked with olive oil and garlic), elevated with a unique L’Égoïste twist, accompanied by roasted potatoes and a savory rice with Portuguese sausage. Easter feast is only completed with a leg of lamb, served with seasonal vegetables, slowly prepared over low heat for maximum tenderness and flavor.

While adults enjoy the main offerings, kids can choose from pizza, hamburgers, or sautéed spaghetti with Bolognese sauce. For dessert, they’ll be treated to caramel mousse cups, jello, mini Bolas de Berlim (Portuguese-style doughnuts), fresh fruit skewers, and the eagerly awaited chocolate Easter eggs.

Adults can indulge in a tempting variety of sweets, from a red berry pavlova to mango and passionfruit trifle, apple and thyme tart, and a selection of seasonal fruits. The Easter nest cake—a chocolate dessert filled with mango and passionfruit, hand-decorated with chocolate buttercream and topped with shimmering eggs—will undoubtedly catch everyone’s eye, along with traditional pão de ló de Ovar, egg pudding, and morgado do Buçaco, a soft, nut-filled pastry.

This Easter Sunday lunch will be served on April 20 from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM, priced at €65 per person, with beverages included (a selection of white and red wines, draft beer, soft drinks, juices, and still or sparkling water). Children aged 5 to 12 enjoy a 50% discount, and those under 4 are welcomed as guests of L’Égoïste Bar & Restaurant.

To make the day even more special for younger guests, L’Égoïste has created a Kids Club filled with fun and creativity. Children will be able to take part in themed workshops, including Easter egg decorating, arts and crafts, balloon modeling, free drawing, and traditional games—ensuring a joyful experience from start to finish.

For those looking to turn the Easter weekend into a true family getaway, the Renaissance Porto Lapa Hotel is offering an exclusive accommodation package that includes one night for one or two guests, complete with a sweet welcome in the form of chocolate Easter eggs. The next morning, guests can enjoy a full breakfast, followed by the grand Easter buffet lunch in a sophisticated setting with a variety of seasonal specialties.

This Easter weekend experience at the Renaissance Porto Lapa Hotel is available starting at €320 per night. Reservations can be made via email at res.agent@renaissanceportolapa.com or by calling +351 229 769 810.

As Easter is the season when chocolate shines the brightest, starting April 2, the Discovery Table at the Renaissance Porto Lapa Hotel will showcase a centerpiece of golden chocolate eggs—each unique in shape and size. This dazzling display, created by pastry chef Ricardo Tiago, features true edible works of art and will remain on view through April 21.
