Fontinha Pizzeria Welcomes Historical Figures and New Flavors on the Menu

From pizzas to desserts, the restaurant located inside the Fontinha Porto, Trademark Collection by Wyndham, has introduced exciting new additions to its menu, while staying true to its Italian roots.

Just over a year ago, Fontinha Pizzeria opened its doors to offer a relaxed taste of Italy. Located inside the Fontinha Porto, Trademark Collection by Wyndham, this cozy, informal space immediately greets guests with warmth and flavor in every dish served from its kitchen. The story is just beginning, and since March 2024, with consulting by Chef Miguel Rocha Vieira, the project now features new dishes and even more surprises, like the occasional visits from historical characters that bring a whimsical twist to the dining experience.

If you’re a fan of Italian cuisine, you’ll be happy to know that many ingredients used in the pizzas are carefully selected and imported straight from Italy—including pepperoni, tomatoes, cheese, and nduja (a traditional Italian spreadable sausage). The pizzas feature a tall, light, and fluffy crust, thanks to a 48-hour dough fermentation process. “This technique allows the Neapolitan-style dough to rise with more air, resulting in a lighter pizza,” explains Chef Joana Santos, who has led the kitchen since day one. Whether you’re stopping by during a work break, enjoying a leisurely lunch, or gathering for a lively dinner, Fontinha Pizzeria offers something for every taste.

New Additions to the Menu

New items have joined the existing lineup of pizzas and dishes. Among the starters, highlights include a warm rosemary focaccia with olive oil and sea salt (€4), the gnocco fritto with marinated olives and our signature caponata (€3.50), and a fresh Caprese salad (€7.50) made with tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, and basil pesto.

Other standouts include the beef carpaccio (€9.50)—a favorite among regulars—served with parmesan shavings, arugula, nuts, and balsamic vinaigrette, as well as a cheese and charcuterie board (€11) featuring a mix of Portuguese and Italian flavors to kick off your meal.

The pizzeria’s lineup now features ten artisanal pizzas, with two exciting new entries: the Tartufo Nero pizza (€16), made with truffle paste, mozzarella, gorgonzola, and truffle carpaccio, and the Mortazza pizza (€16.50), a “pizza sandwich” with basil pesto, Italian mortadella, burrata cheese, cherry tomatoes, and oregano—quickly becoming a customer favorite.

For something more classic, choose from the Margherita (€11), the popular Fontinhapperoni (€13) with imported Italian pepperoni, the Capricciosa (€14) with fior di latte mozzarella, ham, mushrooms, artichokes, olives, and basil, or the Nduja (€15) featuring spicy nduja, burrata, and basil.

Sweet Treats and Drinks

Among the dessert offerings is the indulgent Torta Caprese, a brownie-style cake paired with raspberry sorbet and a warm berry coulis. Other sweet staples include the beloved Cannoli al Pistacchio (€6), filled with ricotta cream, limoncello, lime, and pistachios—so good they’ve impressed visiting Italian chefs.

You can also enjoy a classic tiramisu (€6.50), prepared and served tableside, or a vanilla panna cotta (€6) with berry compote and chocolate crumble. To accompany your meal, choose from a variety of beverages, including the house favorite: a limoncello and green apple sangria (€20).

A Dining Experience with a Twist

And there’s more. In addition to the new menu items, Fontinha Pizzeria introduces iconic historical characters who will occasionally appear and interact with diners. In a relaxed atmosphere, you might find yourself sharing a table—or a pizza—with the likes of Ferdinand Magellan, Leonardo Da Vinci, Marie Antoinette, Joanna of Castile, or William Shakespeare, each with their personal pizza of choice.
