Renaissance Porto Lapa Hotel Unveils New Wing Featuring 78 Rooms, Spa, Gym and Indoor Pool

Located in one of the city’s most cosmopolitan areas, the Renaissance Porto Lapa Hotel has just inaugurated a new wing featuring 78 rooms, a spa, a gym, and an indoor swimming pool. This expansion of the hotel, managed by AHM – Ace Hospitality Management, represents an investment of over €33 million by the Mercan Properties group.

Open for two years and situated in one of Porto’s most dynamic and cosmopolitan districts, the Renaissance Porto Lapa Hotel – the first Renaissance Hotels property in Portugal – has expanded its offering. The newly opened wing includes 78 rooms, a spa featuring products from French brand Cinq Mondes, a fully equipped gym, and an indoor pool. This project, with an investment of over €33 million from Mercan Properties and managed by AHM – Ace Hospitality Management, has also created 110 new jobs: 90 indirect (during construction) and 20 direct (for hotel operations), and brings additional services for the future.

Under construction since 2024, the new facilities feature 78 rooms and a spa, open to both guests and visitors, with three treatment rooms – including one designed for couples – offering a range of exclusive and personalised massages and facial and body treatments using products from the French brand Cinq Mondes. The spa also features a thermal circuit including a sauna, sensory showers, steam baths, jacuzzi, and an indoor swimming pool. To complete the wellness offering, the new wing also includes a 134 m² gym, fully equipped to accommodate any workout routine.

Its impact on the area is clear, helping to restore the character and vitality of one of Porto’s most historic and symbolic neighbourhoods. With an investment of €33.35 million, this second phase reinforces the confidence Mercan Properties continues to share with its partners and investors,” says Jordi Vilanova, President of Mercan Properties.

Surrounded by the city’s newest urban park and just a few minutes' walk from Porto’s main historical landmarks, the Renaissance Porto Lapa Hotel now offers a total of 241 rooms and suites, all with generous space, private balconies, and elegant, sophisticated, and bright décor. The hotel retains its six event rooms – accommodating up to 600 people – the rooftop and heated outdoor pool on the top floor, and the L'Égoïste Bar & Restaurant, which offers a culinary concept based on signature cocktails and Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, led by Executive Chef Miguel Pinto and Pastry Chef Ricardo Tiago.
