Forno da Telha restaurant in Évora is introducing a new offering for the colder months: the Ganhões Lunch, an experience inspired by the rural traditions of the Alentejo that pays homage to robust flavors, the spirit of sharing, and the comfort of winter meals.

Served exclusively at lunchtime every Sunday starting November 16, the Ganhões Lunch evokes the days when the ganhões — agricultural workers — gathered around clay pots to share Cozido de Grão, stories, and wine. Today, that ritual is reborn in the warm, intentionally rustic atmosphere of Forno da Telha, with a concept designed for families and groups of friends looking to connect with rural Alentejo traditions and share meaningful moments around the table.

The meal begins with a generous spread of starters, including salads, cured meats, regional cheeses, Alentejo bread, and olive oil. It is followed by the star of this comforting gathering of flavors and aromas: the traditional Cozido de Grão served in clay pots, offered in continuous service, accompanied by vegetables and meats placed on the table, encouraging conviviality and the slow rhythm that defines winter lunches in the countryside.

Desserts, consisting of typical Alentejo sweets, are served on shared trays, evoking the homemade treats of traditional family lunches, where, just like at Forno da Telha, generations gather at the table and there is always room for one more. Beverages include wine served directly from the talha, water, soft drinks, and coffee.

This experience, available every Sunday with reservation, is priced at €34 per person.

With this initiative, Forno da Telha reinforces its mission to reinterpret Alentejo tradition in a space where fire remains at the heart of everything, under the careful direction of Chef Miguel Rocha Vieira. In addition to this gastronomic experience designed especially for winter Sundays, Forno da Telha operates daily with its regular menu from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, offering 80 seats, including private areas for groups.

From the à-la-carte menu to daily lunch specials and traditional small plates, Forno da Telha is an invitation to discover the authentic flavors of the Alentejo. Whether for a midday break or a lingering late afternoon, the space combines the best of Alentejo cuisine with an excellent wine selection, creating a genuine experience that celebrates the pleasure of great food and warm hospitality.
