This year, Valentine’s Day in Beja is set to feel a little different—more inclusive, more relaxed, and full of flavor. At Chaparro Alentejano, located inside the Holiday Inn Beja, love may be celebrated by couples, but friendship gets an equal seat at the table. The restaurant is preparing a special weekend with two consecutive evenings dedicated to both romantics and singles, each featuring live music, curated set menus, and drinks included.

A Weekend to Celebrate, No Matter Your Relationship Status

On February 13 and 14, Chaparro Alentejano becomes one of Beja’s go-to gathering spots. The idea is simple: great food, an easygoing atmosphere, and the best regional ingredients—reimagined with a contemporary touch that still honors Alentejo tradition.

Valentine’s Day: A Romantic Dinner for Two With Live Violin

On Saturday, February 14, the mood turns unmistakably romantic. Starting at 7:30 p.m., couples will be welcomed with a flute of sparkling wine before settling in for a menu designed to be shared to the sound of live violin.

The evening begins with a classic Alentejo-style couvert of bread, olives, and olive oil, followed by a generous selection of starters that brings everyone’s favorites to the table: a board of cheeses and cured meats, sautéed mushrooms, and cod fritters. For the main course, guests can choose between osso buco in a red wine reduction served with mashed potatoes, a traditional fish stew, or a comforting chickpea stew with vegetables and mint. To finish on a sweet note, dessert options include an orange entremet or chocolate mousse with red berries.

The Valentine’s menu is priced at €50 per person and includes water, soft drinks, beer, and a selection of house wines.

Singles’ Day: The Perfect Excuse to Get Your Friends Together

On Friday, February 13, the celebration is all about friendship. Singles’ Day is marked with an upbeat dinner, also starting at 7:30 p.m., with live music and a set menu made for sharing, lingering, and turning dinner into the best part of the night.

The table is set with bread, olives, and savory bites, followed by starters that lean into bold, crowd-pleasing flavors: pork “pica-pau” made with black pork, plus octopus fritters. For the main course, guests can choose between cod “à Brás,” Alentejo-style pork with clams, or a hearty chickpea stew. Dessert is either sericaia—a beloved regional classic—or sliced fresh fruit.

This menu is priced at €37 per person and includes water, soft drinks, beer, house wines, and coffee.

With these two special evenings, Chaparro Alentejano reinforces what it does best: creating a welcoming place in Beja where couples and groups of friends alike have the perfect reason to go out, enjoy live music, and celebrate the region through food—together.
